	Uppsala Astronomical Observatory
		The Uppsala Astronomical Obervatory was founded in 1730, though there was a professorial chair of astronomy at the University of Uppsala from 1593 and the university archives include lecture notes in astronomy from the 1480s.
		In the 19th century Anders Jonas Ångstrom was keeper of the observatory and conducted his experiments in astronomy, physics and optics there.
		In addition to facilities in Uppsala, the observatory maintains the Kristaburgb Observatory in Sweden and the Uppsala Southern Station at Mount Stromlo[?] and Siding Springs Observatory[?] in Australia.

		The observatory of Anders Celsius, from a contemporary engraving.
		He was professor of astronomy at Uppsala University from 1730 to 1744, but travelled from 1732 to 1735 visiting notable observatories in Germany, Italy and France.
		In Paris he advocated the measurement of an arc of the meridian in Lapland, and in 1736 took part in the expedition organized for that purpose by the French Academy of Sciences.

		After all the success in constructing SNe Ia Hubble diagrams to place constraints on the cosmological parameters, what is often forgotten is that most astronomers 10 years ago believed that Type IIP supernovae were going to be the predominant distance indicators of the future.
