Uriah Heep (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Uriah Heep is a British rock band, officially formed in 1969 in England, when record producer Gerry Bron invited keyboardist Ken Hensley (previously a member of The Gods and Toe Fat) to join Spice, a band signed to his own Bronze Records label.
On April 26, 2005, the band announced on their website and in their Email newsletter that there would be no Magician's Birthday Party in 2005, as they are concentrating their efforts on writing and recording a new studio album to be released in early 2006 (see announcement on the band's website).
Uriah Heep was one of the first bands to recognize the power of the internet, and maintain a very active web presence, with the band and fans from all over the world actively participating.

Uriah Heep - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Uriah Heep is a fictional character created by Charles Dickens in his novel David Copperfield.
Wickfield's alcoholism Uriah controls most of his life and business.
While much of David Copperfield is autobiographical there is no evidence that Heep was based on a character in Dickens' life, though some believe him to be based on Hans Christian Andersen whom Dickens met shortly before he started on this.

 Uriah Heep
A technically brilliant heavy rock band who were not very successful on the commercial radio market, they may be most noted for staying in existence, despite over 40 personnel changes and two deaths along the way.
The band were near the forefront of a richly embossed, fastidious style of music later to be called "progressive rock".
The stability of the new line-up enabled the band to enter their most successful period during the early 70s when the fantastical, eccentric nature of their lyrics was supported by a grandiose musical approach.

 Uriah Heep
The HEEP are one of the first heavy metal bands to ever form, striking the scene with a hard-hitting album in 1970 that could easily rival BLACK SABBATH's debut from the same year, or even DEEP PURPLE's crushing "In Rock" album which had already soared through British charts.
Unfortunately URIAH HEEP saw a decline in the following years and their material was not as fresh and exciting as the older albums, although there are many more scattered highlights to be found throughout their extensive discography.
URIAH HEEP are not only a classic band who is still going strong after 30 years in the business, they are one of the true originators of what we today call "Heavy Metal"!

At this point, Uriah Heep were in a transitional state - moving away from the derivative lumpy metal of the previous albums and getting closer and closer to their unabashed dungeons and dragons adventures.
Apparently, by this time the band had already found and solidified its core audience, and the members thought they could do no wrong as long as they were setting a steady slow 4/4 beat, added high-pitched vocals and 'high-sounding' group harmonies and a touch of 'lyricism' ('Tales' - what a perfect illustration to the formula).
In desperation, the band falls back on their demons-and-wizards formula on one more number, the ridiculously aggressive 'Beautiful Morning', whose Utopian lyrics are at odd contrast with the thunderstorm of the arrangement.
