 5-BROMOURIDINE
Deoxyuridine Diphosphate (dUDP): a nucleotide, the 5'-phosphate of deoxyuridine; an intermediate in the synthesis of deoxythymidine triphosphate.
Uridine Diphosphate (UDP): a nucleotide, the 5'-pyrophosphate of uridine; acting as the chief transferring coenzyme in carbohydrate metabolism; acting as a carrier of hexoses, hexosamines, and hexuronic acids which are intermediates in the metabolism.
Uridine Triphosphate (UTP): a nucleotide, the 5'-triphosphate of uridine; acting as a precursor in the synthesis of ribonucleic acid and of UDP-linked intermediates.

 AllRefer.com - uracil (Biochemistry) - Encyclopedia
When combined with the sugar ribose in a glycosidic linkage, uracil forms a derivative called uridine (a nucleoside), which in turn can be phosphorylated with from one to three phosphoric acid groups, yielding respectively the three nucleotides UMP (uridine monophosphate), UDP (uridine diphosphate), and UTP (uridine triphosphate).
The analogous nucleosides and nucleotides formed from uridine and deoxyribose occur only very rarely in living systems; such is not the case with the other pyrimidines.
Since the uracil nucleotides contain only ribose and not deoxyribose, UTP is the source of uridine only in ribonucleic acid (RNA); there is no uridine in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).

-triphosphate of uridine; it is an activated precursor in the synthesis of ribonucleic acid and of UDP-linked hexoses involved in glycogen and glycoprotein metabolism.
-pyrophosphate of uridine, which serves as a carrier for hexoses, hexosamines, and hexuronic acids in the synthesis of glycogen, glycoproteins, and glycosaminoglycans.
-phosphate of uridine; it is a component of ribonucleic acid.

A slave to sugars - for printer
By simply adding the 'superbeads' to a solution of a starting sugar, uridine diphosphate galactose and galactose (the sugar activated by uridine diphosphate), galactose rings are successively added to the starting material to build up oligosaccharides.
To tiny resin beads the team attached four enzymes that between them efficiently regenerate the molecule 'uridine diphosphate galactose'.

 Salmonella
Uridine diphosphate glucose and polyprenyl phosphate are converted by the enzyme preparations into polyprenyl monophosphate glucose which may transfer a glucosyl residue onto the polyprenyl pyrophosphate oligosaccharides.
Galactose residue is an initiator of a chain growth: transfer of galactosyl phosphate from uridine diphosphate galactose onto the acceptor is followed by two consecutive mannosyl transfers from guanosine diphosphate mannose and rhamnosyl transfer thymidine diphosphate rhamnose.
The resulting pentasaccharide derivatives may be polymerised by enzymes present in cell envelope preparations.

 Leloir, Luis F.
Further work showed that uridine diphosphate glucose is involved in glycogen synthesis and adenosine diphosphate glucose in that of starch.
Other sugar nucleotides such as uridine diphosphate acetylglucosamine and guanosine diphosphate mannose were also isolated.
With his early collaborators, Ranwel Caputto, Carlos E. Cardini, Raul Trucco and Alejandro C. Paladini work was started on the metabolism of galactose which led to the isolation of glucose 1,6-diphosphate and uridine diphosphate glucose.

 Crigler Najjar Syndrome Type I
Crigler-Najjar syndrome type I is a very rare inherited metabolic disorder characterized by the complete absence of the enzyme uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase (UDPGT), which is normally found in the liver.
Crigler-Najjar Syndrome Type II, also called Arias Hyperbilirubinemia, is a very rare metabolic disorder characterized by a deficiency (not complete absence) of the enzyme uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase (UDPGT), which aids in the conversion of unconjugated bilirubin to conjugated bilirubin and its subsequent clearance from the liver.

eMedicine - Crigler-Najjar Syndrome : Article Excerpt by: Alessio Pigazzi, MD, PhD
CNS is elicited by a lack or deficiency of the enzyme uridine diphosphate glycosyltransferase (UGT).
Synonyms, Key Words, and Related Terms: CNS, Crigler-Najjar disease, Gilbert syndrome, Arias syndrome, congenital nonhemolytic jaundice, neonatal jaundice, inherited unconjugated hyperbilirubinemias, uridine diphosphate glycosyltransferase, UGT, kernicterus, bilirubin encephalopathy, plasma exchange transfusion
Type 1 CNS is associated with an almost complete absence of the enzyme, which results in very high levels of unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia (up to 50 mg/dL) at birth.
