  Amphibia (1878)
The Urodela are Amphibia with elongated bodies and relatively short limbs, devoid of scales or pectoral plates, with numerous præ-caudal vertebræ;, and with amphicœlous, or opisthocœlous, vertebral centra.
The bones of the antebrachium and crus remain distinct, and the tarsus is not elongated.
The Urodela and the Peromela present mere cartilaginous rudiments of a larynx; but, in the Anura, this structure attains a great development, and becomes the instrument of the powerful voice with which many of these animals are provided.

Thus the possibility to discover a general hidden signature of evolution is limited. For that reason, such work on mammals should be associated with the study of vertebrates which apparently have a more simplified brain, such as newts and salamanders (i.e.
Amphibians, Urodela).  The telencephalon of Urodela, (the rostral and most evolutive section on all vertebrate brains) appears to be very simple with only 16 distinct areas.  The study of the telencephalon section of the Urodela brain allows us to know the tri-dimensional position, form, limits and volume of each of these 16 areas (neural populations).

Frogs that have returned to living in salt water, keep high levels of urea in their blood to prevent dehydration by osmosis through their thin, porous, skin.
