TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- A military plane with 11 passengers on board has crashed in northwestern Iran, killing a number of high-ranking officials in Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
A government spokesman said an investigation is being launched into the causes of the crash.
According to FARS, the Falcon jet was en route from Tehran to Uromieh when it went down around 10:15 a.m.

According to IRNA, the plane went down near Aidinlou village about 7 miles (12 km) west of the provincial capital, Uromieh, in West Azarbaijan province.
