Los Uroplatus se encuentran cada vez más amenazados debido a la masiva tala de árboles de su medio natural y la imagen "negativa" que tienen en su lugar de origen debido a mitos que circulan sobre ellos.
Los Uroplatus gustan para su reposo las ramas lisas del estilo del bambú y corteza de corcho como decoración, no parecen estar excesivamente cómodos en ramas irregulares pudiendo tener su razón de ser en la imposibilidad de anular la sombra que proyecta su cuerpo gracias a sus "flecos" laterales que anulan la delatadora sombra.
En cautividad es un Uroplatus que a diferencia del resto tolera una humedad algo mas baja y temperaturas algo mas elevadas sin llegar a extremos exagerados, durante el día podemos mantenerlos a 26-27 grados y por la noche bajar la temperatura a 20-22.

In my experience hey are a very hardy species and many experienced Uroplatus keepers consider them one of the easiest Uroplaus species to keep.
Acclimation is very simple with this species and most specimens seem to bounce right back and get accustomed to their new home pretty quickly.
Screen is easier for the geckos to cling to and also allows for better ventilation which in turn keeps mold from growing.

When disturbed larger members of the species especially Uroplatus fimbriatus stand up open mouthed and let out a large hiss, to an observer I can imagine a branch “coming to life” and hissing at you would be disturbing.
Uroplatus malahelo discovered in 1994 and only known from two specimens.
Overall this is a wonderful gecko to keep and hopefully breed, not that common in collections, its unusual appearance gives it a certain appeal.

In the mean time they're both eating well and seem to have adjusted to the new enclosure with minimal interuption.
Posted: Dec 26, 2003 - 12:10 AM One thing that i love about keeping Uroplatus is that they do tolerate the cooler temps...and i have had better luck with hekeli eggs in the winter time around here.
In NC we have some pretty strange winters...warm one day and snoe/ice the next...my house stays at 65 degrees...and the Uroplatus thrive in those temps...the lineatus like it a bit warmer and the sikoreas can take it a bit cooler.
