		The Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Ústí nad Labem was established on 28th September 1991 and has the following faculties: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences and the Faculty of the Environment.
		The faculty cooperates with regional authorities and institutions when solving serious problems of the Usti Region, for instance, reduction of the high unemployment rate in the structurally affected regions in Northern Bohemia or the problem of revitalization of the landscape damaged by coal mining (lignite).
		Usti nad Labem is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of our country - a piece of land with a varied relief, where flat lowlands are replaced by hilly areas and highlands interbanded by River Labe valley, often cut into these rock tormations.
