In these Manuscripts were the stories of the Utatlán natives (the old capital of the Kiché Empire, havocked by Diego de Alvarado in 1524) remembered by heart and written in Kiché but with Latin characters.
The stories were preserved presumably by some of the few and young survivors of the attack of Utatlan.
Father Ximénez found this document, and amazed by it’s content, he made a copy of the original and added in a parallel column the translation in Castilian.
