The Utne Reader is by far my favorite publication I've read recently.
The Utne Reader is published in magazine format by the LENS Publishing Company, Inc., 1624 Harmon Place, Minneapolis, Minn., 55403.
The writers for the Utne Reader (which, according to the credits inside Utne means "far-out" in Norwegian...) are various journalists, professors, etc. It's audience is composed of the younger generation of journalists and those interested in a more human, less traditional style of journalism.

UTNE is a publication we got hooked on back in late '89.
We jokingly refer to it as the thinking readers Readers Digest, since the articles aren't "feel good" but are articles that are meant to make the reader think.
Utne's positive spin on issues, even when the subject is inherently distressful, inspires me, as almost no other form of media does (except, sometimes, music), to rise up out of any negativity that I may be indulging in, and take positive steps toward helping to make our world a better place for us all.

The Utne Reader is published bimonthly by LENS Publishing Co., and the issue i perused was the Sept.-Oct. 2003 issue.
By looking at these headlines I got the impression that the Utne pretty much would appeal to a large amount of readers.
Especially the only about "Sleeping Beauty." I enjoyed looking over the Utne, but I don't think it is a magazine I would like to subscribe to.
