The description of a utopia enables an author not only to set down criticisms of evils in the contemporary social scene but also to outline vast and revolutionary reforms without the necessity of describing how they will be effected.
With the Renaissance the ideal of a utopia became more worldly, but the religious element in utopian thinking is often present thereafter, such as in the politico-religious ideals of 17th-century English social philosophers and political experimenters.
The device of describing a utopia in satire or for the exercise of wit is almost as old as the serious utopia.

 SparkNotes: Utopia: Context
The second part of the first book involves an extended speech by Hythloday on a number of issues, some that were of vital and personal interest to More the author, others that provide a certain insight into Hythloday and perhaps reveal him to be not quite as knowledgeable as one might first believe.
Utopia is, then, a depiction of a semi-ideal society and all of the criticism of European society that ideal represents, and it is a commentary on itself and its themes.
Ultimately, Utopia is a book that, like More, attempted to navigate a course through the ideal and the real, between a desire to create perfection and the pragmatic understanding that perfection, given the fallibility of mankind, is impossible.

 Utopia & Utopian Philosophy
Since each person has their own unique vision of Utopia, the only universally agreeable description of Utopia is, "the ability for each person to live in their own vision of paradise." Humanity should strive to obtain that ability.
Since humans consist of both a tangible physical state (body) and an intangible mental state (mind), the way to achieve Utopia is to find technologies and methods that fully satisfy both states of human existence.
Everyone makes a vote as to the type of world we have with their lifetime efforts, and the total of all human actions determines whether the world is like a heaven on earth or a living hell.

 Utopia Britannica Reviews
Utopia Britannica is a book about experiments in utopian thought, and it is also a utopian experiment in itself, covering, as it does, seven centuries of utopianism with a breadth of detail that is at times overwhelming.
The book is neither academic nor stodgy, rather it provides brief snapshots of utopian dreamers and communities across the centuries, which build together to create a mosaic of historical utopian visions that cannot fail to give the reader a profound sense of hope.

Utopia will, nevertheless, only be referred to against the background of modern technology, as any reproposal of primitive communism would be regressive and puerile.
It is not, of course, an attempt to hypothesise a mechanical relationship between Utopia and physics, but rather a case of establishing a strong analogy between the theory of relativity, which has opened new scientific areas, and the Utopian logic, which could support the birth of new social configurations.
In order to detect the forces that are genuinely interested in Utopia it is therefore necessary to place the Marxist logic side by side with the logic of the positive, and to attribute to each one the limits of its competence.

Utopia is Greek for "Good Place, and "no place." He is punning an ironic two-sided term he clearly intended irony when he wrote this text, which provided the foundation for a new genre for social representation.
Therefore, any utopia is a reflection and study of the world that we are occupying at that given moment and what we wish it were rather than what it is at that moment.
Progress is the realization of utopias." So when we talk about utopias we are not only talking about a desire or a wish or a longing for perfection, we are talking about an order of progress, a way in which we intend to advance, a way in which we envision or imagine improvement and progress.

Utopia, by contrast, is a fast-paced race against the clock, first to intercept the comet in time to divert it toward Inferno, then to rescue a kidnapped politician whose death would likely incite the slaughter of the New Law robots.
Neither the human nor the robot characters of Utopia quite measure up to Asimov's crime-solving duo, though the three types of robot in the story function, intentionally or not, as an existential commentary on the human condition.

This book is great for updating your skills and learning modern JavaScript programming, without the old hacks that many of use learned and continued using over the years.
However the book also explains what an appropriate application for AJAX is and where it isn't appropriate because of usability issues, etc. Also covered are other remote scripting possibilities - with so much focus on AJAX right now its easy to forget these alternatives, which sometimes can provide useful alternative solutions.
