  03-5008 -- Cannon v. Mullin -- 09/13/2004   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Cannon raises numerous claims of ineffective assistance of trial counsel; three claims of trial counsel misconduct, which we recharacterize as additional claims of ineffective assistance of counsel; and a claim of ineffective assistance of appellate counsel for failure to pursue on appeal the claims of ineffectiveness of trial counsel.
Cannon is entitled to relief (1) because his trial attorney (a) failed to inform the court of improper juror contact or (b) denied him the right to testify in his own defense, or (2) because his counsel on direct appeal failed to pursue these two claims of ineffectiveness of trial counsel.
Cannon testifying (a) does not address the manslaughter defense, (b) does not explicitly state that the absence of prejudice from not testifying is an alternative ground for its holding, and (c) is not referenced by the state's appellate brief.

 02-6217 -- Cannon v. Mullin -- 07/19/2002   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Cannon was convicted of murder and arson in Oklahoma state court; he was sentenced to death for the murder conviction.
Cannon's argument in favor of his assertion that the Supreme Court has made Ring retroactive to cases on collateral review is two-fold: (1) because Ring announced a new rule of substantive criminal law under the Eighth Amendment applicable to state capital crimes, the limitations of Teague v.
Cannon's attempt to distinguish Ring from Apprendi, and therefore avoid Mora, on the basis that the decision in Apprendi is grounded in the Sixth Amendment and the decision in Ring is grounded in the Eighth Amendment is unavailing.

No. 98-956: Cannon v. Williams - Amicus (Petition)
The court concluded that, under Rule 37(b) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the $750 fine that it had entered against Cannon in response to the debtor's motion for sanctions should be paid to the debtor rather than to the Clerk of the Court.
Germain, 503 U.S. 2 On the merits, petitioners sought to dispute the basic findings of the bankruptcy court and to contend that they had been denied due process in the issuance of sanctions without sufficient particularized notice of the conduct alleged to be sanctionable or the standard by which their conduct would be judged.

 United States v. Cannon
The district court found that storage rooms connected to a guest house on Cannon' s property were not within the house or the curtilage covered by the warrant.
Cannon had converted the rear building from a garage into a self-contained residential unit approximately twenty years earlier.
Defendant Cannon argues that because the storage rooms were not specifically described in the warrant, they, like Cook' s rental unit, were outside the warrant' s scope.

No. 1-04-2739, Clark v. Cannon Steel Erection Co.
Defendant, Cannon Steel Erection Company, appeals from an order of the circuit court of Cook County which granted the motion of the plaintiff, the Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance, as liquidator of Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council Risk Management Association, Inc. (BYRMA), for summary judgment.
Cannon, at its own expense, had been defending the third-party and workers' compensation claims after BYRMA had been placed in liquidation.
As the trial court correctly noted, both of those decisions examined whether the debts at issue satisfied the mutuality requirement for setoff, not whether the debts to be set off should be extended to claims which had not matured and were unliquidated.

V-3 cannon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Like the V-1 flying bomb and the V-2 rocket, the V-3 cannon (given the cover name Hochdruckpumpe ("High Pressure Pump") in German) was one of the three "vengeance weapons" (German: Vergeltungswaffe) planned by Nazi Germany during World War II.
The destruction of the Mimoyecques complex was not the end of the V-3 program, as two shorter-barreled cannons were set up in Lampaden, 13 km southeast of Trier in Germany.
Soon after the last shell had been fired the firing site along with the disassembled cannons was captured by advancing American forces and the equipment was sent back to the US where the cannons were tested and evaluated at the Aberdeen Proving Ground before being finally scrapped in 1948.

Cannon's layout and illustrations are similar to those in her popular Stellaluna (Harcourt, 1993), with stunningly realistic and vibrant pictures in acrylic and pencil that feature bright greens and yellows.
It is extremely readable for young (3 - 6) year olds, and the art work is beautiful, with vivid colors and expressive characters (even for a snake!).
Best of all, the story line is appropriate, with a message that is easily understood (be yourself; we were all young once) without being preachy.

Kikizo Games: PS2 Review: Gradius V (Page 3)
Where Gradius V differs a little from its predecessors is in the difficulty department where the challenge is high, sometimes even more so than the arcade version of Gradius III.
Coming off the heels of another horizontally scrolling shooter such as the disappointing R-type Final, in which difficulty was laughable at best (finished it without losing a life) I'd say that the high difficulty level of Gradius V is a welcomed challenge.
Of all the changes made in Gradius V, the most significant one has to be the absence of the infamous Moai levels with the annoying stone heads.

Like the V-1 flying bomb and the V-2 rocket, '''V-3 cannon''' was one of the three "vengeance weapons" (German language German: ''Vergeltungswaffe'') planned by Nazi Germany during World War II.
The guns, with a barrel length of about 120 m, were the largest Axis artillery pieces, surpassing the ''Dora'' or ''Schwerer Gustav'' railway propelled 800 mm super-cannon, the ''Mörser Karl'' (''Gerät'' 040) 600 mm tracked siege Mortar (artillery) mortar, and the ''Leopold'' and ''Robert'' 320 mm railway cannons.
