RIBA President David Rock and the Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum Dr Alan Borg met today (Tuesday) at the RIBA, to sign an agreement in principle on a new home for the RIBAs special collections of drawings, manuscripts and archives.
Under the agreement, most of the RIBA Collections, together with the related RIBA staff, will next year move to the South Kensington site of the V&A. The agreement also commits the two organisations to working together in the longer term to establish a combined study centre for architecture.
Following a study by architects Long and Kentish, the vast majority of the collections will be housed in the Henry Cole Wing at the V&A; the photographic collection and library will remain for the time being at 66 Portland Place.
