Victorian Certificate of Education - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the credential given to students who have completed Year 11 and Year 12 of their secondary schooling, in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Students are not required to complete all the units of a subject as part of the VCE course, however Units 1 and 2 usually must be studied before Units 3 and 4 of a subject can be attempted (unless 'accelerating').
But the education authorities generally regard it as the least-worst mix of ongoing assessment and exams, designed to avoid the worst of the old system, where final grading depended solely on the performance of students in a two-week set of exams at the end of year 12.

 VCE
It is recognised that VCE students need the full support of their teachers, the School and their parents if they are to achieve the best possible VCE results.
The School has established support structures at VCE level to ensure that all students are provided with educational opportunities which are relevant to their needs, and which will enable them to progress successfully from School to further education or training, or to worthwhile employment.
This is co-ordinated by the Year 12 Co-ordinator and provides parents with information on the administrative requirements of the VCE, VCE assessment, the tertiary entrance rank, and the range of skills and factors which are prerequisites for success at Year 12.

VCE was founded in 1999 by citizens in southwestern Vermont who joined together to deal with an inappropriate industrial development project.
VCE is working with neighbors, including residents of the Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park which is also owned by the Carrara family.
VCE played an important role in defeating Vermont’s only corporate animal feedlot, Vermont Egg Farms, Inc., from expanding to more than double its current size, and assisted residents of Charlotte in stopping the development of a factory farm in their beautiful valley.

The changes were in part a response to research into VCE performance by Monash academic Bob Birrell, reported in The Age earlier this year, Ms Kosky said.
Dr Birrell's research showed that low VCE scores were endemic in government schools across large areas of Melbourne, and that students from private schools dominated university entrance figures.
