Visual flight rules - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Visual flight rules (VFR) are a set of aviation regulations under which a pilot may operate an aircraft, if weather conditions are sufficient to allow the pilot to visually control the aircraft's attitude, navigate, and maintain separation with obstacles such as terrain and other aircraft.
Under VFR, the pilot generally controls the attitude of the aircraft by relying on what can be seen out the window (see visual flight), although this may be supplemented by referring to the instrument panel.
A pilot flying under VFR is usually required to stay at least a specified distance away from clouds and must stay in areas where the visibility meets minimum requirements.

Cloud Clearance Requirements - Why All Those #*#%* Numbers?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Of course, there is the mandated 500 foot difference between VFR and IFR cruising altitudes, and the hemispherical rule about cruising altitudes (which don’t apply when climbing and descending or within 3000 feet of the ground), but some VFR pilots, to their detriment, tend to be careless about these.
VFR traffic in this airspace is free to dance around merely "clear of clouds" (there at last is the nod to keeping us safe from vertigo) and with a ridiculously low minimum visibility of one mile.
The cloud-clearance requirements for VFR traffic in the class C and D airspace at controlled airports are the same as in the class E airspace, but in the more highly controlled class B airspace surrounding the busiest airports the requirements are actually reduced.

The History of Honda's V-FouR VFR, Interceptor, and sisters RC30 and RC45
I have the '86 VFR 700 F2, and it is the first modern sportbike - full bodywork, integrated fairing that covers the engine, modern aluminum perimeter frame - and it'll hold its own with the current crop of sportbikes on any day.
The VFR was strictly a streetbike, and the new sister bike would go on to racing glory.
The difference allowed the VFR to become an even more sophisticated and refined streetbike for the real world, while the 750 offerings from the other three Japanese manufacturers became more and more of a compromise between the demands and cost limitations of the track and the street.

Night VFR
(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
VFR at night can be among the most pleasant flying of all.
Knowing which wing has the red and which has the blue running (or navigation) light and the fact that at the very rear end of the airplane there is a white light makes it easy to see the direction the traffic is going and whether or not it is on a collision course.
At this point, the VFR pilot would be wise to initiate a standard-rate, 180-degree turn back out of the cloud, just as was practiced during primary training.

Over the last four weeks, while VFR operations and flight instruction were permitted in much of the country, the restriction on VFR operations in enhanced Class B airspace continued.

The resumption of VFR operations in these 15 cities is the result of continual negotiations by a National Security Council working group established in early October to address the security requirements necessary to resume VFR flight in Enhanced Class B areas.
