Virgo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Virgo may also feature, along with Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor, as part of the source of the myth of Callisto, either as Callisto herself, or as Hera.
Astraea was known as the goddess of justice, and was identified as this constellation due to the presence of the scales of justice Libra nearby, and supposedly ruled the world at one point with her wise ways until mankind became so callous that she returned to skies in disgust.
The symbol for Virgo is the virgin or maiden.

 Virgo
Virgo (the virgin) is a constellation of the zodiac.
Because of the presence of a galaxy cluster (consequently called the Virgo cluster) within its borders 5° to 10° west of Vindemiatrix (ε Vir), this constellation is especially rich in galaxies.
Persephone is often mentioned as well, Virgo being visible mainly in the spring months when she was believed to have risen from the underworld.

The VIRGO project is a physics experiment; its aim is the detection of gravitational waves.
VIRGO will be sensitive to gravitational waves in a wide spectrum of frequencies, from 10 Hz to 1000 Hz: that will include gravitational radiation produced by various sources, like supernovae, the coalescence of binary systems, and fast rotating neutron stars in our Galaxy.
Optics: the laser for VIRGO is the first of a new generation of ultrastable lasers, and the most stable oscillator built to date.

Virgo In physics, Virgo is associated with the quarks, the sub-elementary particles which occur in triplets in protons and neutrons, representing the massive component of matter.
In Astrology and human affairs, Virgo is associated with the Inventor and with Vulcan, the Blacksmith of the Gods, and so with the human capacity for tool-making, and indeed all of technology, from the stone ax to the Moon rocket.
In physics, this is the interaction between light and space; light creates space (via its entropy drive or intrinsic motion (gauged as "velocity c"), and in turn space functions as the dimensional conservation domain of light.

The Virgo Cluster of Galaxies in the Making
The accurate velocity measurements of 40 of these stars confirm the view that Virgo is a highly non-uniform galaxy cluster, consisting of several subunits that have not yet had time to come to equilibrium.
The Virgo cluster is considered to be a relatively young cluster because previous studies have revealed small "sub-clusters of galaxies" around the major galaxies Messier 87, Messier 86 and Messier 49.
The first discoveries of intracluster stars in the Virgo cluster were made serendipitously by Italian astronomer, Magda Arnaboldi (Torino Observatory, Italy) and her colleagues, in 1996.

The antenna Virgo has been built; the commissioning of the full detector is now going forward; science runs are planned in the second half of this year; continuous data taking for gravitational wave detection is expected to start at the beginning of 2005.
The Virgo groups are also involved in some R&D activities, considered and managed as sub-projects aiming at insuring that projected sensitivity of Virgo will be reached and preserved, or else to improve Virgo sensitivity by reducing the noise.

 2005 for Virgo
September Virgos are still learning to initiate new or innovative health disciplines, work routines, or ways of making their meditations serve a greater good in subtle or concealed ways.
The last half of 2003 was particularly difficult for August Virgos, who had to rely on lessons and disciplines learned in 2001-2002 to "get them through the night." This group is now completely transformed, many hit crucial forks in the road of their lives in 2004, and as I said, are currently in revolution.
For August Virgos, the first half of 2004 consolidated the beginnings of late 2003 and by Summer had brought you to a fork in the road of your larger destiny, where crucial choices were made, even though things didn't make a lot of sense.

Physically, Capricorn refers to color charge (and the field vectors or force carriers of color, the "gluons"), the source of the "strong" force which permanently binds three quarks into the stable composite structures known as baryons (familiar to us as protons and neutrons).
Physically, the universe is dedicated to returning its energy content to its most symmetric state, light, and light, due to its symmetric state of intrinsic motion, is dedicated to expanding its spatial domain, which by energy conservation, results in cooling.
Its physical body is composed of billions of people working toward a single goal, of which they are almost completely unaware, for they work not for their own purposes, as they imagine, but for Gaia's.

Steady state theory - Science Articles :: Physics Post
Problems with the steady-state theory began to emerge in the late 1960s, when observations apparently supported the idea that the universe was in fact changing: quasars and radio galaxies were found only at large distances (i.e., redshift, and thus, because of the finiteness of the speed of light, in the past) not in closer galaxies.
Halton Arp, also since the 1960s, has been taking a different view of the data, claiming that evidence can also point to quasars existing as close as the local Virgo cluster.
For most cosmologists, the refutation of the steady-state theory came with the discovery of the cosmic background radiation in 1965, which was predicted by the big bang theory.
