After this bloody massacre of the Abyssinians Vahriz was in the Yemen to stay as the shah's regent and tax collector.
Tabari says that Vahriz's son and grandson rule the Yemen in the shah's name.
But at least one of them was called marzban, which has suggested to one scholar that the Yemen was organized as a frontier province of the Sasanian Empire and governed by a possibly hereditary Persian military governor.
