Coastal geography is the study of coastal landforms, the natural and human causes of their existence and the consequences for people.
It involves an understanding of coastal weathering processes, particularly wave action, sediment movement and weather and is absolutely necessary to be able to manage coasts well for human use.
Global warming may result in further rises in the future, which presents a risk to coastal cities as most would be flooded by only small rises.

The Valdivian rain forests occur in the Valdivian temperate rain forests and Magellanic subpolar forests ecoregions.
