		The Radio Authority is this week (17 January) publishing a notice inviting declarations of intent to apply for the local radio licence on the FM (VHF) waveband for the Shaftesbury area, in north Dorset, for an eight-year period from 25 June 2003.
		The present licence, held by Vale FM Ltd., broadcasting as 97.4 Vale FM, is due to expire on 24 June 2003.
		If the Authority receives a declaration of intent from anyone else (or, for whatever reason, does not receive one from Vale FM), the licence will then be formally re-advertised, with a closing date for applications (to be specified at the time of re-advertisement) in June 2002.
