The park is close to the centre of the townships of Liscard and neighbouring resort of New Brighton.
Vale Park and Vale House Community Centre primarily serve the local Community of the area in which the park is situated.

Vale Park became Port Vale's sixth ground in 1950 after the club moved from the Old Recreation Ground in Hanley.
Everyone with an interest in football has heard of the famous Matthews final when Blackpool won the FA Cup in 1953, but not mentioned half enough is that their next defeat in the competition was here at Vale Park in 1954 when Albert Leake scored twice.
The first part of the ground you enter is the Hamil Road End, traditionally the part of the ground where visiting supporters are housed although it was mixed until the changing society meant that visitors should have their own exclusive section from the late 1970's to the present day.

Streatham Vale Park, formerly known as the Leonard Road Recreation Ground, is now 75 years old and is situated between Abercairn and Leonard Roads to the south of Streatham Vale.
In 2003, the ‘Friends of Streatham Vale Park’ was formed by local residents to raise the profile of the Park and improve its appearance, making it a place which local people will feel safe to use and take their children by attracting new funding and facilities.
