The city has approximately 500,000 residents and is primarily an industrial and residential suburb of Manila.
It is bordered by Quezon City and northern Caloocan City to the east, by Malabon City and southern Caloocan City to the south, by Obando in Bulacan to the west, and Meycauayan, also in Bulacan, to the north.

Danny Valenzuela, city manager of Fort Stockton, said a lack of funding that resulted in 19 years of neglect to the city's streets prompted the West Texas city to seek voter approval to adopt the street maintenance sales tax in May 2002.
Valenzuela said the tax also provided much needed revenue to repair damage to streets caused by flooding from a record rainfall in 2004.

Media reports have earlier identified some barangays in the city as areas of concern due to the presence of qualifying factors needed to tag them as election hot spots.

Skateboarding is one of the activities, primarily of the young, that ESPN and Comcast and the city has invested in "branding." Maybe it’s not producing like so many other things to do in the city that reduce it to some level of commerce.
