		There two metal bands, one from Norway and one from Sweden, named after the Tolkienian city Isengard.
		The first is a solo project of Fenriz, member of Darkthrone, and former member of other Norwegian bands like Valhall or Dødheimsgard.
		The second is a power metal band from the Swedish town Vikingstad, and is the project for the Tillman brothers.

		I started the band in 93 / 94 some time and then we mixed fl metal with some acoustic guitars and common singing which was super progressive at that time.
		Mattias and I have been band mates for 12-15 years or something like that already and I think there is still at least 15-20 years to go and probably even more.

		Valhall play doom of the old, old, oldschool variety, with plodding riffs, droning vocals, (I think Ronny Sorkness was incapable of being operatic, so they settled for droning) and even some 70s jazz organ noodling.
		Overall this disc is a big waste of time, but there are some cool tracks and it’s just so oldschool and retro I can't help but like parts of it.
		The Egyptian riff near the middle is a nice touch, and a bit unexpected.

		The band started to create a more original style which is close to the original bands, but still has its' own, almost uncomparable approach and finds its' climax in Gerrit's unique style of singing.
		As the band wasn't really satisfied with the sound and there were no interested label in sight (the eternal fate of many doomsters), the recordings were never officially released.
		In the spring of 1997 the band will return to the studio to record their next album "In The Valley of Tears" which might be released on their own label around summer.

		Well, the before mentioned bands are the greatest bands to come out from the 70's Canterburry scene, which can be explained as spaced out, floating, instrumental jazz influenced prog rock.
		Band's such as Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Trouble and of course Black Sabbath has made their marks in Serpent, but they've found their own style now.
		This is the band of one Jeffrey Ryan Smoots who handle the vocals, guitar, bass and keyboard himself, and on percussion he has help from David Beardsley.

		Like lots of compilations it gives you a good insight to what the bands are about without taking the risk of buying an album and not liking it.

		As you will recognize by reading the report below we obviously didn't manage to cover each band that played the festival, mainly because while we were there we just wanted to grab the chance and spend some time with a few people we don't get to see that often.
		After they have disbanded the band is now seemingly getting slowly back on track with a live gig here and there (mostly in the area of their hometown) and they are currently also writing new material, so we can be curious what will happen with this band in the future.
		The band knows how to put up a live show and since they were having a good light show and sound, it seemed that nearly every visitor of the festival came to see the band.
