Topic: Valiant (automobile)

In the News (Thu 24 Dec 09)

:::::Welcome To JOBI NEELANKAVIL ANTONY WebPage ::::::
Automobile is the most important means of personal transportation for many millions of people around the globeerrands, to visit friends.
Automobiles enabled farmers to sell their goods faster and farther away, and to travel more often and in greater comfort than ever before.
Many people believe that the automobile became a practical means of transportation because of, first, the invention of the internal-combustion engine and, second, the development of the pneumatic tire.

Valiant (automobile) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Australia, the Valiant was imported and later produced by Chrysler Australia.
The VH model included the short wheelbase Valiant Charger coupe, the Hemi 6 (some versions producing up to 225 kW/302 hp) proved to be an initial success story, and for a time proved to be the fastest-accelerating car built in Australia.
Mitsubishi did not renew the Valiant, although there had been some development work in Detroit on project "CM-41," a boxier replacement, reminiscent of the Dodge St. Regis and Plymouth Gran Fury of 1979, that was to have been launched in 1980.

The Valiant also introduced the alternator to the automotive public, as it was the first car to offer one over a generator.
Valiants also utilized the industry's best automatic transmission at the time, the TorqueFlite, and were the only compact cars to use torsion bars in the front suspension.
Although Valiants were loved by their owners and served them and many used-car buyers very well, time hasn't exactly been kind to the "collectability factor." Few are restoring them and demand doesn't seem to be increasing.

Introducing the Valiant: Speeches from 1959
It is an automobile -- with all the parts and all the ruggedness, performance, safety, comfort, and style you expect in a fine American car.
In other words, the Valiant is not an imitation of any other automobile or automobiles -- and it is not a compromise in any sense of the word.
As a result of all this work with smaller cars, when we decided to design and build the Valiant we had behind us a lot of solid research and development relating to the engine, the automatic and manual transmissions, the suspension and many other components that would be needed in a car of this kind.

Plymouth (automobile) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (via CobWeb/3.1 planetlab2.tamu.edu)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Plymouth was a marque of automobile based in the United States, marketed by the Chrysler Corporation and DaimlerChrysler from 1928 to 2001.
Plymouth regained its traditional third place in the sales race in 1971 and 1974, primarily with its popular Valiant and Duster compact models, but as a brand Plymouth was hardest hit by Chrysler's financial woes of the late 1970s.
Marketing decisions ultimately reduced the Plymouth lineup to the point that it was no longer a full-line make (by the late 1990s, only four cars were sold under the Plymouth marque: the Voyager/Grand Voyager minivan, the Breeze mid-size sedan, the Neon compact car, and the Prowler sports car).
