Valjevo (Ваљево) is a city located in Serbia and Montenegro (A mountainous republic in southeastern Europe) at 44.28° North, 19.89° East.

At the Olympics, held in Mexico, in 1968, three of the United States afro-american athletes, raised their heads, and clenched fists, standing at the winner's pedestal.
Fist as a symbol in Serbian history, can be seen in the picture taken in 1942, showing Stevan Filipovic with raised fist, calling for resistance in Valjevo.
After the Second World War, in 1961, the picture served as a model for the monument dedicated to soldiers killed in this revolution (sculptor: Vojin Bakic).
