Valkyrie from Harrisonburg, VA are maybe not a typical Doom band, but the guys are using a lot of Doom elements and mix them up with classic Hard-Rock and Stoner sounds.
Valkyrie is the kind of band that won’t make you insane about their new step or will drive you mad with what they play.
Anyway, Valkyrie are a cuppla bros (literal ones, this time) and some heavy friends from Harrisonburg, VA, jammin’ psychedelic on free flowing, Thin Lizzy-as-space-surfers riffs in 5-minute chunks of loping dope metal.

 White Dwarf magazine - Wikipedia
Initially dedicated to all kinds of role-playing games the magazine is now dedicated just to those games produced by Games Workshop.
The magazine was hugely influential in the 1980s when it helped to popularise RPGs, including those American RPGs for which Games workshop had the UK licence.
For UK role-players the current successor to White Dwarf is Valkyrie and there are hopes that this magazine will replace the hole left in the hobby by this well-remembered magazine.

Picture this: A Honda Valkyrie, the powerhouse of the cruiser world, force-fed about 210 cubic feet per minute of the local atmosphere, which is combined with super unleaded, ignited, and spewed out through six barely baffled chrome pipes.
He'd always felt that the Valkyrie, with its big, naked engine, was styled after hot rods of the 1950's and decided to take the street-rod concept to its natural extreme.
However, he didn't want the Valkyrie to become some muscle-bound show bike that couldn't be run without the risk of a sudden, dramatic failure.

With the stock Valkyrie, being "in the zone" was rare for me. With the TBR clamp, I'm there most of the time.
For the general interest, measured by runnout the Valkyrie's rear wheel circumference with a fairly new Dunlop tire on it is 2018mm while the front with a fairly worn Dunlop on it is 2080mm.

 Odyssey - part of the Valkyrie stable - folds. We get zero sense out of them.
We've had some reports about the death of the UK's SF magazine Odyssey and contacted two members of staff; one who turned out to have left a long time ago (despite still being listed on their web site) and the more recently ex-editor cum publisher Liz Holliday.
She is fiction editor of (RPG magazine) Valkyrie.
Seriously though, we suspect that the demise of Odyssey owes much to our chums at newsagent super-power WH Smith, who we are told now favour big publishers so much that any poorly funded newbies trying to strike publishing gold don't get much of a look in.
