  Bolivia looks to Ché trail to attract more visitors
Vallegrande, a provincial capital, is where Guevara's lifeless body was taken and put on display several hours after his execution, and it is where his body was secretly buried and then found 30 years later.
Vallegrande Mayor Alfredo García said town folk had feared that the finding of Guevara's skeleton in 1997 would dry up the trickle of foreign tourists who trekked there.
Vallegrande residents got their first glimpse of Guevara shortly after his execution, when his corpse arrived at the tiny airport, tied to the skids of a helicopter.

Apparently, a few abstract motifs in yellow and red represent the next phase, and finally there are white paintings belonging to the Colonial period, including a human figure holding up a cross, apparently scaring away another anthropomorph pictured in a frog-like fashion.
SC004, another small cave in Vallegrande, features two magnificent mask-like designs, one of which was chosen as logo of the Bolivian Rock Art Society (SIARB).

The large pebble beach is easily accessible trough the munerous gates along the shore, some of which have surpervised parking nearby.
Other beaches easily reachable from Vallegrande are: the Lungomare of Cefalu town, a beautiful sandy beach divided between paying Lidos and areas of free bathing – about 7 km distance.

Richard Gott, then the Guardian's South America correspondent, was in the Bolivian town of Vallegrande only hours after Che's execution, the only person present who had met the guerrilla and could vouch that this was indeed him.
Brian Moser's rarely shown photographs of Che Guevara were taken in Vallegrande, Bolivia, on October 9 1967, some six hours after the execution of the Cuban-Argentinian guerrilla leader.
The Bolivian authorities were worried that their claim that this was indeed Guevara might not be believed, since one dead guerrilla, thin and emaciated and with matted hair and beard, looked much like another, and a procession of such corpses had been unloaded in Vallegrande in the previous weeks.

The film was shot between April and May 2004 in Vallegrande, the place where the remains of Che and other guerilla fighters lingered buried between 1967 and 1997, and in La Higuera, where the army executed Guevara on October 9th, 1967.
The idea of the film was born in 1997, when producers were shooting a historical documentary on the exhumation of the remains of the guerilla fighters that were transported to Cuba that year, amid the opposition of inhabitants in that area in the Bolivian southeast.
The film was recently released in Vallegrande and in the Bolivian cities of Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz, and before yearend will be exhibited in Cuba and by the beginning of 2006 in Argentina.
