  Britain.tv Wikipedia - Vampire
Vampires (archaic spelling: vampyres) are mythological or folkloric creatures, typically held to be the re-animated corpses of human beings and said to subsist on human and/or animal blood (hematophagy).
Vampires, like other Slavic legendary monsters, were afraid of garlic and liked counting grain, sawdust, etc. Vampires could be destroyed by staking, decapitation (the Kashubs placed the head between the feet), burning, repeating the funeral service, sprinkling holy water on the body, or exorcism.
A vampire in the grave could be discerned by holes in the earth, an undecomposed corpse with a red face, or having one foot in the corner of the coffin.

Vampire lifestyle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The vampire lifestyle (or vampyre lifestyle) is a lifestyle, involving a number of customs and beliefs, followed (in various fashions and to different degrees) by a subculture of people who are attracted to contemporary vampire lore and who seek to emulate it.
The vast majority of the community feels that vampirism is part of their nature, similar to otherkin, in that they possess a vampire soul within a human body.
Vampirism has also been criticised for fuelling the fantasies of people who are psychotic or otherwise severely mentally ill. Some self-proclaimed vampires have murdered in order to drink human blood, such as Brisbane's notorious Tracey Wigginton, who was called a "lesbian vampire murderer" by the press.

 VampireRave.com - Vampire Rave Forums
In vampiric society, it is generally considered and accepted that one must be a sort of Budda, or awakened one, in order to fully realise themselves and so, be capable of satisfying the craving, the desire.
My ultimate aim with this, is to see if perhaps a vampire could be seen as a 'higher' being in the end of their many paths through many lives, since it is understood by me that to suffer in this life, is to come closer to perfection (or g*d), in the 'afterlife' or between lives.
A vampire will feed to relieve that suffering but won't learn to defeat it, or have the intention to defeat it, which is not going to meet the wisdom part of the Buddhist path : so, in my humble opinion, that wisdom similarity to the vampire lifestyle isn't really right.

Immortal: Term commonly used to refer to or describe vampires as incapable of death or dying, it is used much more loosely in reference to vampires, implying that they are not subject to aging, are impervious to disease and injury.
Vampyre vs vampire: "Vampyre" is the older spelling of the word "vampire" used in the 17th & 18th centuries, thus "Vampyre" is used to refer to people who are really into the scene or lifestyle.
Vampyre lifestyler: Someone who incorporates fictional vampire imagery and trappings into his/her personal life, often cultivating a "Vampyric" physical appearance and forming alternative extended families and social structures modeled on the "covens" or "clans" of vampire fiction and role-playing games, and utilizing that terminology.

Unlike in human anatomy, the vampire kidney appears adapted to preserving magnesium with great efficiency; extraction from the liquid diet might be sufficient for the vampire lifestyle.
Growth and Aging: Vampires are normally recruited as adults; no significant growth appears to be required, and longevity is a well documented feature; with periods of inactivity and virtual hibernation, individual vampires are known to have lived for centuries.
Efficient vasoconstriction, coupled with powerful regenerative powers have given the vampire the reputation of being unstoppable by blade or bullet - most experienced hunters will not relax until the vampire has been burned or beheaded; injuries that would lead to almost instant death in a human being are a minor inconvenience to a healthy vampire.

When, some years ago, I first read Anne Rice’s novel "Interview with the Vampire", I was impressed by the unique, romantic view she used to explore the vampire subject.
Vampires are now perceived in a totally different light than the horrible, blood-sucking monstrosities they were in the decades previous.
Visually and atmospherically, "Interview With The Vampire" is a beautiful film and it is great to see that this DVD from Warner Home Video is bringing the film to life like never before.

 Vampire lifestyle: Alternate Theories
But as I read over the articles which have been posted on this forum, I find a persistent thread of writers whose chosen coping mechanism is to try to rationalize the vampire, producing theories of viral agents and multiple-stage diseases and evolution in action.
I find that in these articles there is room for a certain degree of research left to be done, but I am in no way attempting to throw stones at the authors, or their skills as writers.
A human with a drastically lowered heart rate and respiration will appear to be dead, increased strength and speed is just a matter of rearranged muscular insertions and increased potassium intake, and psychic power can be used for a vast array of trickery and deception.

I'm generally not one to critique other beings' lifestyles, but it seems to me that since the so-called vampire lifestyle has gotten so much media play, the "children" who've recently been born into the life of darkness have made it a more glamorous, popular life than it acutally is, or in my case anyway.
I guess for me it's been a most secluded life, not one filled with role playing or standing around in the streets with about 15 or 20 others who claim to be one with darkness.
