Van Asch has been on this site for 125 years and I am sitting in a room here with people who were probably at school here in the 50's and 60's.
It's also a place that is really significant for the deaf community because this is their old school and we have groups allied to it like the Friends of the Museum who come and visit on a monthly basis.
After the event we as a school are left with a wonderfully enhanced museum with more resources and more photographs, a brilliant model of the old building which was the school from 1904 to 1981 and there's a marvelous stone sculpture left in a memorial garden that was sculpted by an ex-student called Donald Gibson.
