However it’s important to note that the success of these cartoon film studios during their formative periods in the 1930’s was to some extent, brokered by the talent developed at competing cartoon studios, which eventually fell by the wayside.
The cartoon short films of the Van Beuren studio were produced and released from 1929 to 1936, the developmental years of the sound cartoon film medium.
Van Beuren’s first decision was to commit to making “sound” cartoons exclusively.

Some studios (Disney, Fleischer, WB, Iwerks) are represented on tape or DVD by some fl and white cartoons, but other studios like Van Beuren, Terry, Lantz and Columbia are not as well represented.
The best Van Beuren cartoon I've seen to date is 1931's "Trouble" with Tom and Jerry - it really has some fine animation and background work absent from other Van Beuren efforts of this time.

Tom and Jerry were fictional characters that starred in a series of early sound cartoons produced by the Van Beuren Studios.

According to Markstein's Toonopedia, Fleischer staff sometimes moonlighted at Van Beuren's, which was situated just across the road (accounting for the many visual similarities between the two).

It's a kind of showmanship left over from 19th century displays of technological wonders (I recommend a new book called Wonder Shows by Fred Nadis), a belief that the pleasure people take in the finished product is enhanced by knowing how it was done.

From 1933, we see Sentinel Louey in "A Dizzy Day," and it appears to be a collaboration between RKO Van Beuren Studios and New Yorker cartoonist Otto Soglow.
They were probably a big stretch for Van Beuren, what with the highly stylized characters, background, and, for this period, very strange music.
The second one, "A.M to P.M." is better paced, and the music more typical of the period, though still a notch above Van Beuren's average.
