Vancouver Giants take Memorial Cup experience with them as next host team   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
The Giants graduated a lot of goals with Gilbert Brule's departure for the Columbus Blue Jackets and lost some experience on the blue-line in the graduation of Paul Albers and Mark Fistric.
But Vancouver has enough returning players, with the experience of a long playoff run behind them, to be contenders for the league title again.
And the Giants won't likely be forced into selling the farm to build a team competitive enough to play in the tournament May 18-27.

 The Vancouver Giants
On a night where three championship banners were raised to the rafters of the Pacific Coliseum, the Vancouver Giants didn't upset a crowd of more than 11,000 fans as they opened up the 2006/07 regular season with a huge 9-0 win over the visiting Portland Winterhawks.
The two teams were scoreless after twenty minutes of play and although the Giants at one time were being out-shot 8-0 by the Hawks, Vancouver did lead the shot clock 14-9 after the opening twenty minutes.
Ironically, the first time the Giants scored nine goals at the Pacific Coliseum was September 22, 2001.

 Bigfoot: Vancouver's Hairy Giants 1935
VANCOUVER, B. 1935 —(U.P.) — Sasquatch men, remnants of a lost race of "wild men" who inhabited the rocky regions of British Columbia centuries ago, are reported roaming the province again.
Residents in the district tell of seeing the two giants leaping and bounding out of the forest and striding across the duck-feeding ground, wallowing now and again in the bog and mire and long, waving swamp grasses.
The giants walked with an easy gait across the swamp flats and at the Morns Creek, in the shadow of Little Mystery Mountain, straddled a floating log, which they propelled with their long, hairy hands and huge feet across the sluggish glacial stream to the opposite side.

Given that the Giants are more than comfortable with their current goaltending situation, I don't think many teams will be willing to give up what Vancouver will want in return.
