Vanessa Vadim (born 28 September 1968 in Paris, France) is an independent producer and cinematographer.

Vanessa Vadim’s notoriety was fueled by her Oct., ‘89 arrest while attempting a heroin buy with a fellow Brown student, who was nabbed with a hypodermic needle and, according to cops, “a substance supected to be heroin” in his possession.
Vanessa grew up in the controversy-steeped Oakland, Calfornia household of her stepfather, onetime radical and state legislator Toy Hayden, to whom Fonda was married before Ted Turner.
When Vanessa came into the bullpen at about noon the morning after she was busted, all the prosties and skeezers were whistling and cat-calling at the cracker chick with the expensive haircut and leather jacket.

It ranges from the stoicism of Henry Fonda to the train wreck that was Vadim to the high-handed spousal criticism of Tom Hayden to the egomaniacal charm of Ted Turner.
Even as she got her first break, in "Tall Story" (1960), after Lee Strasberg of the Actors Studio declared that she did indeed have talent, she was so in the throes of her disease that she was binging and purging "sometimes eight times a day," she writes.
Later, in Paris, where she hooked up with Vadim, her life -- when not working on camera in any of the four films she made under his direction -- was reduced to parties and sex and crumbs: "I ceased eating except for the crusts of his bread and the rinds of his camembert."

 My life so far - Reviews - Books - Entertainment - theage.com.au
There is the solemn child who, aged only 10, will not cry when her mother commits suicide; there's poor little rich Jane, the jittery debutante drifting in the wake of her famous but indifferent father; skinny Jane learning to vomit after meals like all the other society girls.
We also meet swinging Jane, who indulges husband Roger Vadim's taste for threesomes because she doesn't want to look square, and activist Jane, the uneasy rider who pioneered the whole celebrity-for-cause back when it was really risky.
She is especially good on life with her three very different husbands: saturnine French director Roger Vadim; right-on left-wing politician Tom Hayden; and hilariously uncensored media mogul Ted Turner, who literally cannot even pronounce the word "monogamy".

A deep sadness permeates virtually every page of "My Life So Far." Readers are reminded over and over again that Henry Fonda was a cold, cold man; that young Jane had serious issues with her body and her self-image; that some men cheat.
Fonda struggles valiantly — and ultimately not very successfully — to explain the tortured, complicated relationship she had with her father and consequently with her three husbands: French director Roger Vadim, political activist Tom Hayden and the irrepressible Ted Turner.
But it's when she's not trying so hard that her life story becomes truly compelling — when she's drawing this magnificent, richly nuanced portrait of Hepburn, or recounting a tour of Appalachia with Dolly Parton as a guide or remembering a young Marilyn Monroe as she cowered in the back of an acting class.
