General Vang Pao was an American-allied Hmong military leader in the Second Indochina War.
Pao was commander of the Secret Army, a highly-effective, American-trained and supported fighting force made up mostly of Hmong tribesmen.
Pao is considered by most Hmong to be the preeminent leader of the Hmong people in the United States and a hero of American-allied forced in the Second Indochina War.

Pao is "the best leader ever in Hmong history," Pobzeb said, calling the charges "nonsense." Pobzeb said he personally was in a position to know because he worked for the CIA under the direction of an American leader and Pao from 1971 to 1975.
