From the outset the team found it self short handed and in the penalty box which continued for the entire game.
Even with the team playing (what felt like the entire game) shorthanded for much of the game they were still able to keep it close.

The team was notified of the decision Feb. 3 during an emotional meeting with Cross, Assistant Director of Athletics Vanessa Seljeskog and ski team Head Coach Morrey Nellis ’72.
The Athletic Department’s decision to eliminate the team on the varsity level is the latest in a series of blows to MIAC skiing, which first held conference championships in 2000.
Skier Julia Parke ’07, whose sister was a junior at Carleton when the varsity program became a club team, said a team outside collegiate sports would be a better option for her than to continue skiing for Macalester’s club team next year.

This year the team is made up primarily of sophomores and has only two returning seniors: Stillerman and Kelli Fangonilo.

Varsity’s first Canadian opponent was in the fall of 1881, when McGill scored a victory by ‘two tries to nothing’ on the front lawn at U of T. As for the nickname ‘Blues’, it seems that this reference wasn’t generally used until the 1930’s.
Varsity also claimed national titles in 1905 and 1909 though 1911; with the latter three being most historic as they represented the first Grey Cup championships, which is now the pinnacle of the Canadian Football League season.
The team was led by Dalt White, and is regarded by many as the Varsity Blues’ strongest ever.
