		Besides Vassil Levski, the monastery also hosted the famous Bulgarian man of letters, Vassil Drumev, King Ferdinand, who is a baptised catholic, ordered that the passionate orthodox Drumev was kept into custody in the monastery after a religion-based clash between the two.
		Drumev was kept prisoner in the monastery over 15 months, during which his diet consisted of salted fish and fresh water, complemented by other food given him secretly by the pitiful monks through an unnoticeable hole in the ceiling.
		Vassil Drumen was set free after the fall of the Stambolov government.

		In 1872, Vassil Levski organized the most numerous revolutionary committees in the Bulgarian lands (51 people) with a chairperson and a cashier — both of them outstanding and influential wealthy men Stanio Vrabevski and Petko Miliov - Strashmya (the Terrible), Dimitur Obshti (a close associate of Levski) worked in the town, too.
		The house in which Vassil Levski was hiding during his visit to the town on the way to Romania is preserved, too.
		Gabrovo continued to develop as the biggest textile centre of Bulgaria after the Liberation and it was not by accident that it was nicknamed "the Bulgarian Manchester".

		In 1872, Vassil Levski founded a revolutionary committee; in 1876, Hr.
		It had a rich book collection destroyed by Greek clerics in their attempt to enforce Hellenization on the Bulgarian population.
		Levski visited the monastery, and V. Drumev was exiled here.

		In it Paisiy's ideals were continued along with the idea for the independence of the Bulgarian literature from the imposed Greek dogmas and canons.
		Inspired by the Ukranian writer Yuriy Venelin's book as well as the ideas of the great Bulgarian teacher Petar Beron, in 1835 Vassil Aprilov founded the first secular school - the high school in Gabrovo, in which the teaching was conducted in Bulgarian language.
		The first patriotic plays were written by Dobri Voynikov (1833-1878) and some of them were later revised by Vassil Drumev (1841-1904).

	The Glojen Monastery - Views and Vistas in Bulgaria pictures on Worldisround
		In the Monastery there is a very nice church built long ago and which collapsed during an earthquake in 1913 and rebuilt.
