The Vasyugan Khanty population is spread out in a string of villages along the river Vasyugan, one of the tributaries of the Ob'.
However, the Vasyugan Khanty certainly do not fit this picture and might be considered exceptional in many ways among other groups of Khanty, though their basic economic and social problems are the same as elsewhere in Siberia where native people live.
Prediction for the Vasyugan Khanty future The small size of the Vasyugan Khanty population together with the long distances from the other Khanty communities, lack of self-confidence and organizational capacity, and extensive natural resources exploitation, have resulted today in diminished chances for the survival of the Vasyugan Khanty culture.
