		Kverkfjoll is the fourth major volcano lying beneath the ice of Vatnajokull, situated on its far northern edge.
		Two broad outlet glaciers pour out of the Vatnajokull icefield on either side of the high massif of Kverkfjoll, which itself has a smaller outlet glacier pouring out of its throat ("kverkin" in Icelandic, for which the glacier Kverkjokull and the mountain Kverkfjoll are named).
