Vauxhall Firenza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The initial Firenza was available in 1159cc overhead valve and 1598cc overhead camshaft variants, later enlarged to 1256cc and 1798cc respectively.
In 1973, Vauxhall decided that their rather dull model range needed a makeover, and developed a radical version of the Firenza, known officially as the High Performance (HP) Firenza, but known colloquially as the "droopsnoot" after its dramatically styled aerodynamic nose.
At that time, the original flat-fronted Firenza model was rebadged as the Magnum coupé, and the name Firenza was used exclusively for the HP version.

With the 1979 demise of the Viva, GM policy was for future Vauxhall models to be, in effect, rebadged Opels, designed and developed in Rüsselsheim, with little engineering input from Luton.

At the same time, the Firenza coupe was given a radical makeover with an aerodynamic nose and beefed up 2.3 litre twin carb engine mated to a ZF five speed gearbox, turning it into the HP (High Performance) Firenza.
The E was Vauxhall's answer to the Ford Popular and was first offered as a promotional edition 2 door coupe using surplus Firenza body shells, before becoming a permanent Viva model in 2 door saloon form.
All future Vauxhalls would be simply badge-engineered Opels, or in the case of the 2004 Vauxhall Monaro, a rebadged Holden.

VxlSCC - Heritage - Vauxhall History
The revised Viva range introduced in 1970 saw the launch of the 1800 and 2300 Magnums, which were shortly followed by the radically styled Firenza and Firenza 'Droop Snoot.' Indeed, it was the DTV Firenza, driven by Gerry Marshall that dominated special-saloon car racing between 1975 and 1977.
It was also in 1998 that Vauxhall introduced the Corsa SXi, which had the trim and appearance of a Corsa Sport, combined with the insurance and economy benefits of a 1.2 litre 16-valve engine.
Vauxhall also broke the mould of the MPV, with the launch of the Zafira GSi, with the 2 litre 16 valve turbo engine from the Astra Coupe Turbo.
