		Vendsyssel's original flag was based on an idea of mayor Poul S Poulsen and put down on paper by the artist Mogens Bohøj.
		It was first made and hoisted in October 1976 and represents a peculiar variation on the traditional Nordic cross flags: A small Dannebrog flag set on a blue field that was charged with a green and yellow cross, the green and yellow also extending all around the Dannebrog.
		The Dannebrog represented the Danish heritage of Vendsyssel.
