Venidium isn't a flower you see often, but it is a good summer flower and a different kind of plant for the flower garden.
Venidium is easy to start from seed, and needs to be planted early since it takes a long growing season.
Venidium doesn't require good soil, and is somewhat resistant to dry conditions, although it grows best when it gets adequate water.

 arcto
The genus as a whole is found in the fynbos, nama-karoo, succulent karoo and grassland biomes.
Lewin (1922) placed the genus Venidium into synonymy with Arctotis, and the majority of the species in Venidium were placed in section Austro-orientale.
This group is currently being studied by a post doctoral researcher in the MESG, Dr Robert Mckenzie, who is studying the species level relationships using DNA sequnce data, as well as morphological surveys of achenes and other structures.

Small blooms-a result of planting too closely? - Cutting Garden Forum - GardenWeb
I planted a lot of annual seeds, as well as annual plants I had winter-sown....lost track of exactly where everything was planted in the one bed (home garden).
I have Venidium blooming now too, they seem the right size, planted about 4-5" apart, but I have lots of annuals this year that are stunted due to the weather.
I grew them a few years ago and ripped them out half way through the season because the plants sprawled everywhere, and thier fuzziness irritated my skin.
