 Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3
On the one hand, Thomas Haden Church, who fits the profile of Eddie Brock almost perfectly - Blonde Hair, blue eyes - is being doubted as the potential person to play the role of Eddie Brock / Venom.
Again, please don't have in your mind the idiotic renderings of Eddie Brock in the NEWER 2000 / Spectacular Spiderman series where he's this gigantic huge, balding ghotied oafer who doesn't seem very smart and actually has a dialogue with Spiderman, while spiderman plays around with his little webbing likes its a toy.
I'm talking about the McFarlane drawn stories, where Venom / Brock was a normal human being, and then BULKED UP to the point where he could bench press enormous amounts of weights and use the black costume to terrorize Spiderman.

The Superhero Hype! Boards - Eddie Brock's Club House...
Well he's deffinatly got Brock's physique, but having never seen him acting I'll take your word that he'd be good enough to play Eddie.
The Venom side of things will probably be handled with CGI anyway so that's ok, but the Eddie side of things they need to get spot on.
I also want them to cast a GOOD Eddie Brock.

Venom (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brock took up weight lifting in the hopes of reducing his stress, but was unsuccessful in alleviating his obsessive hatred of Spider-Man. Planning to kill himself, Eddie went to a church to apologize to God for not being strong enough to handle life.
In the Ultimate Marvel universe, Eddie Brock is Peter Parker's childhood friend, and the symbiote is not an alien, but the creation of their fathers.
Although Brock and the symbiote were thought to have been permanently bonded, the symbiote recently briefly abandoned a cancer -ridden Brock, before Spider-Man tricked it into returning to him.

 Venom
What's His Problem?: Eddie was a reporter who did a series of interviews with the vigilante known as the Sin Eater, during which Brock, under pressure from the authorities, revealed the name of the Sin-Eater himself.
Eddie was first seen during cameos in Web of Spider-man #18 and Amazing Spider-Man #298-299, but issue #300 was his first full appearance and therefore the one that costs big bucks in comic book stores.
Eddie's costume is actually a living organism that has merged with Eddie after serveral attempts to bond with Spider-Man. It originally showed up during the Secret Wars miniseries.

Perfect Eddie Brock... - The Superhero Hype! Boards
This is probably the best fan casting for Eddie Brock/Venom I have ever heard.
I was watching Remember the Titans yesterday with my girlfriend, and she leaned over to tell me, ‘He’d make a great Eddie Brock…’ It took me a minute, and I have to agree.
He has the look down much better than R.C. Everbeck, who had an uncredited cameo in the original Spiderman.

Venom returned later on to reveal that Eddie Brock had cancer, and he could not survive without a permananent merge with the symbiote.
Shortly after that, Venom had an epic struggle with the returned Spider-Clone, Ben Reilly, who was Scarlet Spider at the time and managed to separate Brock and the symbiote.
Venom served a homeless community of "under people" in San Francisco as their "protector" for a while but make no mistake: that Venom was insane.

IGN Boards - Topher Grace is playing Eddie Brock/Venom in Spider-man 3???
Because Toby and Topher (whoa sounds like what you'd name twins) look similar, are about the same age and are both similar builds it will make the venom character look much better when they (hypothetically) use cg to beef him up.
Not because I think Topher is wrong for Venom, but because I don't like Venom.
Brock is supposed to get pissed off at spiderman, then start buffing himself up for revenge.

 Encyclopedia: Carnage (comics)
Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout at which Eddie Brock/Venom and Kasady were both present.
The game allowed the player to control Spider-Man and/or Venom in multiple levels ranging from fighting punks on the streets of New York City and San Francisco to battling security droids in the Fantastic Four headquarters.
In the video game Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, as in the comics, Carnage seems to be sane enough to actually enlist aid from other Spider-Man villains, Shriek, Doppelganger, the Demogoblin, and Carrion.

Who's okay with John Jameson being... - The Superhero Hype! Boards
I know Eddie Brock's motivations aren't the most fantastic motivations either, but it works for Brock because of who he is--- an utter hypocrite, a lunatic, someone who is completely deserted and most importantly someone unable to ever put the blame on himself...Peter Parker's opposite in many ways.
John Jameson becoming Venom doesn't make sense, unless Venom's personality was completely changed from the comic version making him only be similar to the real Venom in his appearance and name only.
And John Jameson is a handsome, wealthy astronaught who I'm sure can get another girl and clearly didn't desperately in love with MJ to me, and trying to pretend he was would just make him seem like a Harry Osborn clone.

 Amazon.ca: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 6: Venom: Books
Bendis accomplishes the goal of telling the story within a limited space, but I can't help but imagine how better this story would be if perhaps Eddie Brock had been a supporting character for a while in the book and THEN the bio-suit had been introduced later on, as well as Venom of course.
Before, Eddie Brock was an angered ex-journalist who had a serious mad on for Spider-Man and bonded with a creature that shared those feelings.
So when I heard that Brian Bendis would be retelling his origin, I was very eager to see the results, for I have always felt that the original Venom's origin was too convoluted and his personality in general was a little too one-demensional.

Ultimate Spiderman offers a thoroughly fun albeit simple Spiderman experience which perfectly captures the feel of Ultimate Spiderman’s style but, impressive though it is, comes at the expense of properly fleshed out gameplay resulting in a game well worth playing, but seriously lacking the depth or development to be called great.
In Ultimate Spider-Man, however, the differences are immediately noticeable, in the sense that they go beyond the obvious strength/speed levels.
