Vertigo was well received by critics who noted the production was considerably more sophisticated than most electronic music produced in Australia to that point, due in large part to producer Robert Racic, who had also worked with Severed Heads and other Volition artists such as Single Gun Theory.
Overall, Vertigo had a fairly pop feel, however the band also included more experimental instrumentals on the album such as "Comet" (also on the B-side of the "Freemason" single) and "Lelore" (featuring an eerie wailing as the centrepiece "vocal", it was released as a single in its own right).
A remix album Revision with reworkings of Vertigo tracks by various local producers, including Tom Ellard from Severed Heads, was released in 1992, but it was another two years until the follow up album Algorhythm was released in Australia in 1994.

Through the first part of the 1960s, records had been released mostly by the major labels, like EMI, Phillips and Decca, the three giants of the business, long-established and stodgy.
However, as music changed during the decade, especially with the rise of "progressive music" after 1967 and the success of young Island Records in the field, the majors knew they had to respond with progressive arms of their own.
Vertigo Records, Phillips' entry in the progressive stakes, debuted in 1969, famous for its hypnotic psychedelic swirl logo.

The Aldbourne formation is similar to the Vertigo record label logo. Comment by Fervidus and Bob Vernon.   (Site not responding. Last check: )
After sending my last email(s) I began to wonder if my memories of the Vertigo record labels were indeed correct (it was the 60s after all, and you know what they say about remembering the 60s), so I Googled "Vertigo records" to try to find some pictorial proof.
Although I am old enough to have actually possessed such records, I could not remember the precise pattern of the logo, and so I got it wrong in assuming that that of the Avebury Trusloe circle was exactly the same (apart, obviously, from the mirroring in the crop circle).
The idea behind this was that you were supposed to watch the pattern on the label as the record rotated on the turntable (preferably while stoned) in order to enhance both the 3D and trance inducing effects - hence the significance of the name of the label, Vertigo.

VERTIGO is Alfred Hitchcock's haunting tale of deception, madness, and death--a masterful exploration of fantasy and anxiety.
The film ranks with REAR WINDOW as one of the director's most closely studied films for its psychological complexity, while the obsession of its protagonist--John "Scottie" Ferguson (James Stewart)--can also be seen to parallel that of Hitchcock's own fascination with the icy-blonde leading lady he re-created at the center of so many of his films.
VERTIGO is considered one of Hitchcock's most complex, finest films.
