Vibraslap - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A vibraslap is a percussion instrument consisting of a piece of stiff wire (bent in a handle-like shape) connecting a wood ball to a block of wood with metal "teeth" inside.
When the percussionist holds the handle in one hand and strikes the ball (usually against the palm of their other hand), the metal teeth vibrate against the wood block, causing a distinctive rattling sound.
Vibraslaps come in a variety of sizes and materials.

Originally the jaw of an ass, the vibraslap was designed due to the failings of the original instrument.
But the fragility of the jaw meant that the vibraslap was created.
The vibraslap is used regularly in a whole range of music and is beginning to have more of an impact in classical music as well.
