Ajax did not get relegated from the Eredivisie that season, but that was about it: the 13th slot, one above the 'relegation line', of 1964-1965 still stands as Ajax's worst season since the advent of professional football in Holland.

As a lad in Stepney Rodney just loved the game.
After a great deal of effort and committment to regain full fitness, Rodney had good success with Fulham the following year (1964 - 65) with 18 goals in 41 matches.  A difference of opinion with the coach, Vic Buckingham eventually led to him being transferred to QPR for £15 000 in March 1996.
Rodney had a good relationship with Alec Stock and with the right kind of encouragement, racked up 44 goals in one season (1966 / 67).  This was followed by majestic success in the final of the League Cup on the 4th March 1967 against West Brom when QPR won 3 - 2.
