  Static-Void: 108
Vic DiCara wrote the first 108 EP in October of 1991 and headed into the studio with Zach Eller (of Blue Tip and Worlds Collide) on drums to record their debut EP, Holyname.
Vic took over again on the mic and got Tony Valladerez on Bass and Norm Arenas (of Texas is the Reason) on Second Guitar.
They played a few local shows, but Vic soon decided that if he was going to be a monk he might as well go all the way: he broke up the band and headed for India.

But Inside Out guitarist Vic DiCara also made a minor name for himself when he left the band, embraced Eastern spirituality, and helped form 108, one of the foremost Hare Krishna punk-rock bands ever (not that there was a huge glut of them taking up space on the Billboard charts or anything).
But DiCara's been bitten by the hardcore bug again: he's hooked up with former Inside Out drummer Chris Bratton and ex-Chain of Strength member Frosty, and the three have been rehearsing material for a new band and album.
DiCara has launched a search for a front man via the Internet-jump to www.dicara.com/ theband/frontman.htm, fill out the funny, Mad Lib-like form, and send it on.

Vic DiCara wrote the first 108 EP in October of 1991 - after being booted from Shelter for what amounted to insubordination - and headed into a new-wave studio with Zach Eller (of Blue Tip and Worlds Collide) on drums to record their debut EP, Holyname.
Vic, Ras and Triv were joined by Jason Lederman on drums.
Vic is in the currently active 108 lineup on Guitar and Vocals.

 Static-Void: Inside Out
In mid 1989 Vic DiCara moved to SoCal.
Chris Bratton, acting on a tip from Tom Capone of Beyond, contacted Vic to play in a band he had put together for Dave Smalley (best known as the singer of DYS, Dag Nasty, All, and Down By Law).
Playing their first show in a Riverside restaurant called "Spanky's Cafe" the response from the Hardcore scene was immense, and a huge wave of excitement spread throughout the American and International Hardcore scenes.

Guitarist Vic DiCara, along with former Resurrection vocalist Rob Fish, was the driving engine behind 108, forming the East Coast-based band in 1992.
DiCara was previously making waves on the West Coast with legendary hardcore metal group Inside Out, which also featured future Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha.
The band played their final show at CBGB's that summer, with DiCara returning to the area in summer 2001 to round out a new incarnation of Burn.

They played several shows and even toured the east coast once before their breakup in 1991.
They had written material for a second record, to be titled Rage Against the Machine (whence the name for de la Rocha's next band came), but the band broke up shortly after their guitarist, Vic DiCara, left the band to become a Hare Krishna monk.
Sterling Wilson also played bass for the band before Mark Hayworth joined the band full-time.

108 Reforms After Hellfest Replacement Shows

The band, who called it quits over a decade ago, was scheduled to perform at the cancelled Hellfest with "the original and essential members" Vic DiCara on Guitar and backing vocals, Robert Fish (Rasaraja) on Vocals, Trivikrama dasa on Bass and Chris Daly on Drums.
DiCara had this to say: I was surprised how many people said that before the shows they were confused about our motivations for playing shows again - thinking, "If 108 aren't Hare Krishnas anymore, why would they want to play those songs again?"
I admit that the members of 108 were once deeply involved in the external social aspect of religion known as "Hare Krishna" - and today or tomorrow we may or may not be.

There was Vic Dicara on bass who went on to Inside Out, Shelter and 108 (later playing in Burn as well for the reunion EP).
Dicara was doing some slick bass shit and Alan Cage has always been a madman (literally).
Now, don't get me wrong - I am of the opinion that the stuff Capone did with Bold was his best shit besides Quicksand (those solos SLAY me when I hear them), but this record was before that and at the time it was just different.

Shelter : Quest For Certainty   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Unavailable for years "Quest For Certainty" is considered by many to be the best Shelter record ever.
It was recorded with two different line-ups featuring Ray Cappo (Youth Of Today, Better Than A Thousand), Vic Dicara (inside Out, 108), Porcell (Youth Of Today, Judge, Gorilla Biscuits), Graham Land (Better Than A Thousand, Battery), and Sammy Siegler (CIV, Youth Of Today, Judge, Side By Side).
Totally repackaged, the record delivers such hardcore classics as "Freewill" and the title track along with a cover of the Black Sabbath song "After Forever." "Quest For Certainty" is without a doubt one of the main reasons why Shelter has been so influential in both rock and hardcore over the years.
