Emilio Sojo (1887-1974), founder of the Orquesta Sinfonica Venezuela and the endowed chair of Composition of the Caracas Conservatory.
I translated and consulted this article for my Doctoral Thesis on Sojo in 1994,, and later thought it would be of great interest to Celibidache's admirers to read his thoughts about Sojo, and the very special relationship that existed between these special maestros.
It was because of the fortune of # having had direct contact with that rock of humanity, that smiling Avila # mountain, that eternally green saman tree that was Sojo, with that # spirit that was always protected by the fait of its antecedents.
