The Vickers Vigilant was a British anti-tank missile used by the British Army.
Vigilant was developed for the anti-tank role in the British Army, the name being formed from VIsually Guided Infantry Light ANti-Tank missile.
Vigilant was wire-guided and optically tracked, like its successor Swingfire.

Swingfire replaced the Vickers Vigilant missile in British service.
It was a product of both its predecessor the Vigilant and the experimental Orange William missile.
The name comes from the ability of the missile to make a rapid turn of up to ninety degrees after firing to bring it onto the line of the sighting mechanism.

In 1814 Moses Vickers was dismissed by letter, and joined the church at the Forks of Gunpowder, when William Thompson was called to the care of the church.
The Church noticed the death of James Vickers (though not a member with them), which occurred February 29th, 1860, passed and recorded resolutions in regard to the same, and requested Elder Robert Kirtley to preach a funeral discourse in commemoration of his death.

The Vanguard submarines were built by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Limited (now BAE Systems Marine) at Barrow-in-Furness.
