Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd became part of the nationalised British Shipbuilders but was the first to return to the private sector.
Vickers Sons and Maxim began work on a rigid airship for the British Admiralty in mid 1909 in a dock at Walney Island, Cumbria, sadly it disintegrated upon its second trip out of a floating hangar on the evening of 23 September 1911.
Vickers was a pioneer in producing airliners, early examples being converted from Vimy bombers, and went on to manufacture the piston-engined Vickers VC.1 Viking airliner and Varsity military crew trainer, the Viscount and Vanguard turboprop airliners, and the stylish though noisy VC-10 jet airliner, which remains in RAF service as an aerial refuelling tanker.

Vickers was acquired by Rolls-Royce plc in 1999 for £576m ($1.03Bn.) The marine propulsion portfolio of Vickers made it particularly suited to Rolls-Royce, transforming the group into the global leader in marine power systems.

The primary role of the RNZAF was to take advantage of New Zealand's distance from the conflict by training aircrew, as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme, alongside the other major former British colonies, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums - Swaztika on a Vildebeest
In the February 1995 issue of Aeroplane Monthly there is a Keith Woodcock painting of a Vickers Vildebeest (K4111) from 84 Sqn in the middle East in 1937.
The swaztika, or broken cross, was a symbol of good luck way before any middle-European countried hijacked it for their own political ends.
The other thing that could be a factor is that the old Vildebeest was hardly a new aeroplane in 1937 and may have been carrying the marking for some time.

Hmmmmm..........given that most aircraft are named after something else, eg Vickers Vildebeest is named after a vildebeest..what is a Vimy ?
But if you mean a Vildebeest is named after the animal which is a type of Gnu, that is spelled (in English at least) as Wildebeest.
Goolge Vildebeest and it comes up with almost totally Vickers Vildebeest references.

One good point in this and the other two kits is that the interplane struts are made from heavy-guarge photoetched brass, which will profice sufficient strength, without being too thick, as would be the case with white metal of similar strength.

The Fairey Swordfish first flew in prototype form in the early 1930s.
After airframe improvements to the prototype, the Swordfish quickly became the major front line torpedo bomber of the UK's Fleet Air Arm, even though it barely showed any technical improvement on its predecessor, the Vickers Vildebeest.
The Swordfish was obsolete by the start of WW2, but nevertheless, it served in all the major campaigns of the war, including D-Day.
