The rocking "Going Down To Liverpool," sung by drummer Debbi Peterson, is a nod to the Beatles and is the decisive track that tells the listener why the Bangles merit listening to, although for me, I would have been instantly won over on the first song.
The Bangles were aware that the power chord, the three guitar and drums combo, were the basic backbone of rock and because of this, like the Ramones, they could continue playing their music for decades since they weren't bound to a particular trend or sound.
However at this point guitarist Vicki Peterson was writing most of the songs, sometimes in tandem with Susanna Hoff, the best of which would be "Hero Takes a Fall" (which pretty much defines the sound of the Bangles at this point in their on going evolution).

Guitarist and vocalist Vicki Peterson penned most of the '60s and early-'70s guitar rock songs, like the mini-hit "Hero Takes a Fall" (it was rumored the hero in the title was Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn).

The real surprise is that Debbi Peterson is the lead vocalist on the two strongest tracks on the album - "Live" and "Going Down to Liverpool".
