Vico C - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vico C (born Armando Lozada Cruz on September 8, 1971) is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer who is considered one of the founders of reggaeton.
Nicknamed The Philosopher, he adopted the professional name Vico C, by which he is better known, to honor both the philosopher Giambattista Vico and his mother (by including the letter C in the name, Cruz is his mother's last name).
In 1994 however, Vico C suffered a car accident while on tour in the Dominican Republic, and had to be hospitalized a considerable amount of time.

 Giambattista Vico
Vico's earliest publications were in poetry rather than philosophy-the Lucretian poem "Affetti di un disperato" ("The Feelings of One in Despair") (composed in 1692) and "Canzone in morte di Antonio" ("Ode on the Death of Antonio Carafa") both published in 1693.
Vico satisfies this demand by distinguishing at the outset of The New Science between il vero and il certo, "the true" and "the certain." The former is the object of knowledge (scienzia) since it is universal and eternal, whereas the latter, related as it is to human consciousness (coscienza), is particular and individuated.
Vico observes that in the latter part of the age of men (manifest in the institutions and customs of medieval feudalism) the "barbarism" which marks the first stages of civil society returns as a "civil disease" to corrupt the body politic from within.

As early as the mid-1980s, Vico C was recording rap cassettes in Spanish, which he sold in the historic San Juan discotheque The Noise, where many of the genre's legends - including DJ Negro, DJ Playero and Lisa M, among others - got their start.
With his music, Vico C is trying "to change incorrect thinking in homes and among the legislators, and do away with hypocrisy, the negligence of parents with children, and to recover the values of love, peace and progress."
For Vico C, reggaeton's success and spread is due to the fact that after the 1970s salsa boom, neither rock nor any other type of music could adequately express the feelings and experiences of the humblest and most marginalized Latinos.
