Diaz was on the Mets' opening day roster and hit.182 (2-for-11) in six games before being sent to Triple-A Norfolk, where he hit.224 with eight home runs and 38 RBI in 103 games.
Diaz is a former top prospect who has pop in his bat, but has had an awful 2006 in Triple-A. Consider him nothing more than a September call-up and a reserve for the deepest of AL-only leagues at that time.

One problem I can see the Mets Management having with Diaz, is that if he plays, they are more or less admitting they shouldn´t have signed matsui, they could have signed an outfielder for the matsui contract, and obviosly would have gotten much better offensive production than KAz.
Diaz should never have been moved, and should be the mets starting second baseman next year.
Diaz is an out fielder now and if he plays will be in the outfield alone.

the Mets were one short on pitching and Diaz was taking up a spot on the bench with Nady hitting as great as he has been.
Diaz is too young to sit on a bench, he'll play in AAA until he's needed.

MLBtraderumors is reporting that the Cardinals are looking at Victor Diaz from the mets for Mark Worrell.
I think Diaz is a 4th outfielder at best and not any better than JRod or even Taguchi.
I do like the Diaz trade for Worrell, he has been imploding on numerous occasions this season and with the Cardinals success at putting together a bullpen year in and year out I believe they can find a closer on the market should they decide to get rid of Izzy after this season.
