		The Greater London Council administered the larger London area until 1986, when it was abolished by the Thatcher government, making London unique as a world metropolis without a central governing unit.

		Bartlett was a finalist in the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award in 2002 and 2003, the McClelland Survey and Award for Contemporary Sculpture in 2003 and the National Sculpture Prize and Exhibition, National Gallery of Australia in 2001 and 2003.
		Bartlett has undertaken many major public sculpture commissions, including the City of Auckland in 1987, the City of Melbourne in 1997, the City of Newcastle in 1998 and the Australian National University in 2000.

		Funded by an Australian Research Council SPIRT grant, project partners include Melbourne Museum, Tourism Victoria, the City of Melbourne, the State Library of Victoria, the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, and the Victoria Public Record Office.
		In 2000, the Society, together with the University of Melbourne, received a grant from the Australian Research Council to fund the archival arrangement and description of the Santospirito Collection.
		This website is one outcome of this grant, which has enabled this highly significant collection of over 2500 documents to be preserved, described and made accessible to the public.
